Still & Box Alarm fire in Chicago, 7-30-16

On Saturday, July 30th, at 4:45 a.m., the Main Fire Alarm Office dispatched the 18th Battalion to a working fire on the 1500 block of South Kostner. Engine 38 arrived first and quickly boxed the fire, reporting an exposure issue and a burn victim. I got there just as the main fire was dying down in the attic, so most of the photos show rig placement rather than active flames. The first few images show Engine 95 stretching a hose line to the second floor in the rear. In the third photo, you can see fire coming out of a couple of windows on the front side of the building, though one window is partially hidden by bushes. The Still & Box was knocked down within about 20 minutes. It was a fast response, but still a tough call with the exposure risk and the injured person involved.
