According to the Philippine April 6th Daily Inquirer, the Philippine Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), the World Bank and the crab company jointly launched a system to use Big Data to solve traffic jams and road safety on Tuesday. This also made the Philippines the first country to adopt the system. OpenTraffic's real-time data collection is run by Crab's GPS-based speed limit, delays, and real-time traffic conditions. This data is transmitted every six seconds to identify hazardous areas and enhance traffic emergency response. OpenTraffic's tests show that Manila's best driving time is 4am every Monday, and the most congested time is 7pm every Wednesday. In addition, the crab and the World Bank plan to introduce another DRIVER system by the end of May, which will be used to notify the relevant agencies in time after a traffic accident. If it runs smoothly, the two systems of the crab company will be put into use in Indonesia and Vietnam next year.
