Annual Imports of Machine Tools in Shaoxing Area Break Through 40 Million U.S. Dollars

The reporter learned from the inspection and quarantine bureau of Shaoxing City that in 2011, the total number of machine tools imported by inspection and quarantine by the Shaoxing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau was 170, 417, with a value of US$ 43.90 million, an increase of 148%, 133%, and 420% respectively year-on-year. This is Shaoxing. For the first time in the region, imported machine tools exceeded US$40 million.

It is understood that the main types of imported machine tools are machining centers, machine tools and grinding machines. Among them, the average price of the combined machine tools reached US$ 190,000, the import volume of medium- and high-speed machine tools increased significantly, and the proportion of imports from developed countries such as Germany and Japan increased rapidly.

The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Inspection and Quarantine Bureau believes that there are four main reasons for the continued increase in the number of imported machine tools in Shaoxing this year. First, facing fierce competition at home and abroad, in order to improve product quality, increase product quality, expand production scale, and reduce production costs, many enterprises in Shaoxing accelerate the pace of transformation and upgrading of enterprises; second, labor shortages are forcing companies to increase. The third is the support of the national tax policy for importing electromechanical products, which has stimulated a large number of enterprises to introduce high-tech machinery and equipment. Fourth, the continued appreciation of the renminbi this year will help reduce the cost of purchasing imported equipment.
