A commercial delegation from Jinan, China's heavy truck market, yesterday threw an olive branch to many commercial vehicle companies headed by Dongfeng in the province and invited to participate in the first international truck and parts exhibition in China (Jinan).
In the layout of the domestic automobile industry, Jinan is an industrial base for heavy trucks. In 2007, the country produced 400,000 heavy trucks, of which 34% came from Shandong. According to Zhang Jing, the vice president of the Jinan Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the heavy-duty truck industry in Hubei has developed rapidly in recent years. Wuhan has become one of the most important investment sites for the first truck show.
This year, the growth of the heavy truck industry in our province is particularly evident. The reporter learned from the Dongfeng Group that 267,700 commercial vehicles were sold in January-June, a year-on-year increase of 42.30%, which was much higher than the 25% increase in cars.
In order to adapt to the rapid growth of the heavy-duty vehicle market, on August 1st, Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Company dismantled an existing production line and rebuilt a heavy truck assembly line. It will be completed and put into production in the first half of 2009, and its heavy truck production capacity will reach 45,000 vehicles/year.
