China Drying Network News Liaoyang Petrochemical Company independently researched and developed biodegradable polyester preparation technology has passed the examination of the State Intellectual Property Office recently and obtained national invention patent authorization. The patented technology not only promotes the upgrading of polyester products, it also seeks new breakthroughs for the development of enterprises, and it also has great potential for promotion in environmental protection.

This project was initiated by China National Petroleum Corporation in April 2009. During the implementation process, the project team captured the catalyst combination with high low temperature activity and inhibited side reactions, biodegradable polyester synthesis process engineering, and biodegradable polyester polymerization pilot test. There are 4 key technologies such as equipment support and application of biodegradable polyester products. The biodegradable polyester produced by adopting the patented technology has undergone injection and blown film tests by the Changchun Yinghua Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The processing performance is good, and the mechanical performance index of the product has reached the level of similar foreign products. Biodegradability testing results performed by the Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, show that the material has good biodegradability and can be widely used in food and sanitary packaging fields where the material degradation performance is required.

The invention uses the four monomers of purified terephthalic acid, adipic acid, 1,4-butanediol and ethylene glycol as raw materials to synthesize biodegradable polyester by using a high-efficiency composite catalyst and a special esterification process.
