Just before midnight, Engine 76 arrived on the scene to find heavy fire blazing in the rear of a three-story apartment building located at 1306-08 N. Kildare Ave. Battalion 18 quickly established a defensive position as firefighters encountered intense flames spreading through the wooden porches and multiple units on the second and third floors. Meanwhile, Squad 2’s Snorkel unit deployed an elevated master stream, as reports indicated the fire had already burned through the roof. Despite the challenging conditions, crews worked efficiently and managed to control what appeared to be a significant amount of fire in a relatively short time.
