Geely Auto reported that Cummins, North America’s largest manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel truck engines, announced on July 12 that it plans to expand its production at the Seymour, Indiana production base. Preparations will start immediately. The expansion project is scheduled to be completed in mid-2011.
Cummins will invest 100 million U.S. dollars to expand the output of Sima Motors' large-horsepower technology center and high-horsepower engine production line. At present, the base employs 450 people. This expansion will create about 200 job opportunities within five years, involving engineering and production.
Cummins said that after the expansion, Seymour's production capacity and production capacity will increase, and new additions will include: an assembly line, a paint area and a production laboratory. In addition, a new large-displacement engine will be put into operation at the base.
