On Monday, May 15, 2017, at approximately 10:58 p.m., the Lake Zurich Fire Department responded to a house fire at 22580 Somerset Court. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the garage and several vehicles were already engulfed in flames. Due to the severity of the situation and the lack of nearby hydrants, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm, which brought in multiple fire engines and water tenders to transport water to the scene. This coordinated effort ensured that crews had the necessary resources to effectively combat the blaze.
The incident highlighted the importance of regional cooperation, as neighboring fire departments, including Long Grove and Fox Lake, provided additional support by supplying water through portable tanks. The scene was intense, with firefighters working tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Multiple photos captured the scale of the operation, showing fire engines in action, firefighters using hoses on smoldering debris, and the aftermath of the destruction. These images provide a powerful visual record of the response and the challenges faced by first responders in such situations.
