The panel of experts recognized the innovation, stating that this breakthrough has filled a critical gap in China's domestic coating industry. This achievement marks a significant step forward in the country's efforts to develop advanced, environmentally friendly coating technologies.
In 2002, China introduced a mandatory standard limiting hazardous substances in solvent-based wood coatings used for interior decoration materials, specifically capping the levels of free TDI (Toluene Diisocyanate). This regulation forced many domestic coating manufacturers to rely on expensive imported thin film evaporators to meet the new requirements. The successful development of this technology in China is expected to significantly lower production costs and improve the competitiveness of Chinese coating companies in both domestic and international markets.
Mr. Zhao Zhaonian, a veteran in the paint industry with over five decades of experience, praised the breakthrough. Although this technology has been widely used abroad for nearly 50 years, it was completely absent in China.
