The discovery of the Samsung system will help humans understand gravity
Recently, the discovery of a Samsung system may generate new clues that help scientists define the nature of gravity.
The system consists of two white dwarf stars and super dense pulsars, which can help solve the problems in Einstein's general theory of relativity. When the pulsar's radio waves are emitted at the exact time, astronomers can very accurately calculate the measurement system geometry and stellar mass. This pulsar, 4,200 light-years from Earth, rotates approximately 366 times per second. Pulsars are formed when a massive star explodes, partially embedded in a super-density neutron star, and some of its mass is converted into gravitational binding energy.
Scientists say that the system can provide a best opportunity to observe violations of the principle of equivalence. The principle states that the effect of gravity on the body does not depend on the nature or internal structure of the body.
"Although Einstein's theory of general relativity has been confirmed in every experiment so far, it is not compatible with quantum theory. Physicists hope to make breakthroughs under extreme conditions," Ransom explained. This triple star system provides us with a good opportunity to find a specific form that violates the principle of equivalence, that is, the strong equivalence principle."
British University’s Ingrid said: “Looking for deviations from the principle of strong equivalence will indicate the collapse of general theory of relativity and will guide us toward a new, correct gravity theory.â€
