2. Approval of Marine Solid Waste Incinerator
The incinerator is designed to burn solid waste and oil sludge on board, in compliance with the following regulations:
- MARPOL 73/78 Annex V – Type approval and operating limits for shipboard incinerators
- IMO Resolution MEPC 76(40), adopted on 25 Sept. 1997
- IMO Resolution MEPC 93(45), adopted on 5 Oct. 2000
- MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI – Resolution for the Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships, adopted on 26 Sept. 1997, effective from 19 May 2005
It has received approvals from EC, CCS, DNV, GL, LR, ABS, USCG, and other recognized classification societies.
3. Components of a Complete Marine Solid Waste Incinerator System
(1) Combustion Chamber
(2) Sludge Tank with Heating Elements
(3) Exhaust Gas Fan
The combustion chamber includes the burner, control panel, and built-in accessories; the sludge tank features heating systems (electric, steam, or thermal oil), circulation pump, and level switches; the exhaust gas fan consists of a flue gas fan, damper, and expansion bellows.
