In 2009, the Ningxia Ministry of Geology and Minerals discovered a large amount of rock salt resources in the Yuanzhou District of Guyuan City. The initial proven reserves were over 1.7 billion tons. It is a national large salt mine with a long-term reserve of more than 10 billion tons.
The "Several Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Guyuan Society and Economy" reviewed and approved by the Autonomous Region Governmental Conference on the 19th proposes that by developing industries based on salt chemicals to enhance the industrialization level of Guyuan City, an industry-led economic pattern will be formed by 2015. This is the first time that Ningxia has issued a document for the promotion of social and economic development in Guyuan City.
In accordance with the design of this normative document, Guyuan City will build a solid-phase salt chemical circular economy poverty alleviation demonstration area. Starting this year, the government of the autonomous region will arrange 40 million yuan each year for the construction of the infrastructure of the salt chemical industry circular economy poverty alleviation demonstration area. The Guyuan Salt Chemical Circular Economy Poverty Alleviation Demonstration Zone will also enjoy the most favorable industrial electricity prices in Ningxia.
At the same time, Guyuan will also rely on proven coal, petroleum and other resources to develop coal mining, thermal power generation and coal chemical industry, and coordinate the progress of PetroChina Changqing Oilfield to speed up oil exploration, exploitation and development. Guyuan will also use local wind energy resources to develop wind power.
