Working fire in Park Ridge, 12-13-14

I arrived on scene early Saturday evening. The smoke conditions were pretty good as I was driving down the street, but it had already cleared by the time I got into position. I believe this was an attic fire, and it was brought under control with a large line from the outside. Two additional crosslays were also used. It was interesting to see the truck—a quint—operating as an engine, supplying all the lines. I’m guessing they must have been the first in, or maybe they were short an engine for some reason.

I’ve always enjoyed shots like this. From where I was standing, there wasn’t much to see, but from the sounds of it, this was a solid response. Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently, and it’s always impressive to watch the coordination during these types of incidents.
