Decatur Fire Department news

Excerpts from herald-review.com:

The Decatur Fire Department’s Engine 6, the vehicle that carried firefighter Micah “Bubba” Wakeman to countless emergencies over his 16-year career, was also there for his final journey home on Tuesday. A devoted father of four and a lifelong resident of Mount Pulaski, Bubba passed away on June 13 after a tragic tractor rollover accident. He was just 43 years old.

Fellow firefighters from across Central Illinois gathered to honor their fallen comrade. The ceremony began with a heartfelt salute, as an honor guard carried Bubba’s casket from the church while others raised their hands in a slow, respectful gesture. The procession moved slowly, led by squad cars from both the Decatur Police Department and the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, symbolizing unity and respect.

The funeral procession, filled with fire, police, and emergency vehicles, made its way along a 3-mile route to Warrensburg for interment. Along the way, the procession passed beneath a ceremonial arch formed by two aerial ladder trucks holding a flag that fluttered proudly in the breeze. The bright, sunny day reflected the tone of the service—a celebration of life rather than a mourning of loss. Attendees described it as a tribute to a man who lived fully and touched many lives.

Wakeman’s close friend Tracy Dyer shared, “This is not a funeral—it’s a celebration. It’s about how one small man has made such a big impact, from Uganda to Haiti, Guatemala to Ukraine.”

A strong Christian, Bubba had dedicated much of his life to missionary work and helping those in need. He also served as a foster parent, showing compassion and dedication to children in crisis. Colleagues remember him as a kind, hardworking, and selfless individual who always put others first.

While the service was uplifting, with laughter and stories shared among attendees, the deep sadness of losing a beloved figure was also evident. Some mourners could be heard weeping as a message from Bubba’s 20-year-old daughter, Ashton, was read aloud. She struggled to find the words to express her feelings, saying, “For once, I’m lost for words. But what I can say—and what I think we all need to say—is ‘thank you.’ Thank you, God, for letting us have some of my dad in our lives. Not many people are blessed with someone like Micah Wakeman.”

The service ended in a quiet, solemn moment as a lone firefighter rang a bell nine times—three sets of three rings—the traditional firefighter farewell. The sound echoed through the church, leaving many in tears.

In a touching show of support, firefighters from Springfield and Champaign took over Decatur’s fire stations so that local firefighters could attend the service. Over 100 active and retired Decatur firefighters were present, underscoring the deep bond and respect they held for Bubba.

Automatic Pressure Maintaining Hydraulic Compacting Filter Press

The automatic pressure maintaining Filter Press produced by our company adopts a hydraulic device as the power mechanism for compressing and loosening the Filter Plate, and uses an electric contact pressure gauge to realize automatic pressure maintaining. The operation is simple and safe, labor-saving, the whole machine works stably, and the electrical part is equipped with various safety devices. Ensure the safety of the operator and the normal use of the filter press.

The working principle of the automatic pressure-holding filter press: the operation of the equipment is divided into two stages, compaction (forward), pressure-holding and relaxation (backward). When pressing, the hydraulic station provides high-pressure anti-pressure oil to the oil chamber, and there is a piston in the oil chamber. When the pressure in the oil chamber is greater than the resistance of the filter plate of the filter press, the screw rod connected to the piston is stretched out. Slowly apply pressure to the filter plate of the filter press. When the pressure is reported, when the pressure reaches the pressure value designed by the filter press, the pressure relief valve will start to release the pressure (controlled by the equipment pressure gauge), and the equipment will automatically cut off the power to maintain the pressure. When the pressure is released slowly, the pointer of the pressure gauge will fall back , start the power supply of the hydraulic device again, continue to apply pressure, and repeat the operation like this.
