In 2017, February 20, according to foreign media reports, Huawei also opened a cellular-based narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) laboratory in Australia to research and develop applications, smart devices and sensor networks.

In September 2016, Huawei demonstrated end-to-end NB-IoT solutions, including cloud-based IoT connectivity management platform, low-power wide-area NB-IoT access technology, agile deployment of IoTPacketCore, and smart IoT operating system HuaweiLiteOS and the industry's first NB-IoT chip Boudica.
