According to NBC Chicago:
A pilot was killed when a small plane crashed into a home in a residential area of southwest Chicago around 11:15 a.m. Thursday. The crash occurred on Hampton Court near Chestnut Hill Road and Bedford Drive in Plainfield.
Authorities confirmed that no one was inside the house at the time of the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration stated there were no injuries on the ground. However, it remains unclear how many people were aboard the aircraft. Joliet’s city manager confirmed that the pilot was killed in the incident.
Footage from the scene showed significant damage to the home, with fire burning on one side and debris scattered across the street. Officials believe fuel from the plane may have caused the fire, but the investigation is still ongoing. Emergency crews are working to secure the area and assess the full extent of the damage.
