If this photo was taken in 1946, the pumper on the left is believed to be a 1926 model that was purchased used in 1945. The original firehouse was built by volunteers in 1948, and that same year they received a Ford/Darley pumper, which isn’t visible in the photo. Before the firehouse was established, the equipment was stored either inside or behind a gas station—now long gone, having burned down in the late 1970s. This location was at the northwest corner of Elmhurst Road (IL Route 83) and Camp McDonald Road.
