According to NBC Chicago:
A pilot was killed when a small plane crashed into a home in a residential area of Plainfield, a southwest suburb of Chicago, on Thursday morning, authorities reported.
The Joliet Police Department stated that the crash happened around 11:15 a.m. in the 1800 block of Hampton Court, near Chestnut Hill Road and Bedford Drive.
No one was inside the home at the time of the crash, and the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed there were no ground injuries. It is still unclear how many people were aboard the plane, but Joliet's city manager confirmed that the pilot was killed.
Footage from the scene showed significant damage to one side of the house, with debris spread across the street. Officials believe fuel from the plane may have caused the fire, but the investigation is ongoing.
