Foglia Wins "Blue Award" for Solid Ammonia Storage and Delivery System

Among numerous clean air technologies, Faurecia emerged from the more than 50 participating technologies with the solid ammonia storage and delivery system (ASDS) and won the “Blue Award”. This is another important recognition in the industry after ASDS helped Fogliana China take the first “Suzong Award”. The Advanced Solid State Ammonia Storage and Delivery System (ASDS) technology fundamentally improves air quality by providing more efficient nitrogen oxide emission reduction solutions for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

The operating principle of ASDS is that after the engine is started for a few minutes, ASDS can release pure ammonia to the exhaust pipe in gaseous form and convert the nitrogen oxide exhaust gas into clean nitrogen and water, even in a low-temperature complex urban driving environment. No exception.

Compared with AdBlue®, which is the most widely used nitrogen oxide decomposition solution, Foglia's ASDS can be started at a lower temperature, and the nitrogen oxides can be decomposed with shorter preparation time. In addition, storing the same amount of ammonia, ASDS requires only half the space of AdBlue® and weighs a third less. ASDS has confirmed that it can reduce nitrogen oxide emissions in up to 99% of urban driving; while in the same urban driving environment, AdBlue® can only reduce by an average of 30% to 35%.

Acquired 91.5% equity of Amminex, optimistic about the development prospect of ASDS

ASDS was jointly developed by Faurecia and partner Amminex. Amminex is a clean technology company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Since the middle of 2009, Faurecia Group has obtained a 42% stake in Amminex. Recently, Faurecia Group further obtained a 91.5% stake in Amminex through equity acquisition. It is expected that ASDS will play a greater role in the emission of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in the future.

“The ASDS system is a breakthrough technology for improving air quality that has been verified in a real-world driving environment of millions of kilometers. I am very pleased that Faurecia is increasing its stake in Amminex, which means that we will accelerate our clean transportation strategy. The layout of various types of vehicles," said Christophe Schmitt, executive vice president of emission control technology at Foglia.

ASDS in China, for China

In China, Faurecia is committed to helping commercial vehicle manufacturers respond to increasingly stringent emission standards by promoting the use of ASDS technology. In November, Faurecia and Jiangling Motors Corporation signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote solid-state ammonia technology, bringing this cleaning solution to more manufacturers.
