Martin Nowak spotted the detailed page for Elburn & Countryside FPD’s brand-new fire apparatus. This custom top-mount pumper, unit #2030, is designed to meet the high standards of the Elburn and Countryside Fire Protection District in Illinois.
The vehicle features a Spartan Gladiator MFD 10†raised roof chassis, powered by a Cummins ISL9 engine with 450 horsepower. It comes equipped with an Allison 3000 EVS automatic transmission, ensuring smooth performance on the road.
The body is made of heavy-duty aluminum, 3/16†thick, with ROM roll-up doors for easy access. The truck includes a 1000-gallon poly tank and a 30-gallon foam tank, along with a Hale QMAX125 pump that delivers 1250 GPM. The pump panel is mounted across the top of the apparatus for optimal visibility and control.
There are six 2.5-inch discharges—two on the left, one on the right, and three at the rear—as well as a 4-inch discharge on the right side and a 3-inch discharge for the deck gun. The Akron Apollo Deck Gun adds versatility during operations.
Two 2.5-inch gated suctions are located on each side, and the truck is equipped with one 2.5-inch and two 1.5-inch Mattydale preconnects. A Foam Pro 2002 single-tank system ensures efficient foam delivery when needed.
The front bumper extends 21 inches and includes a 5-inch front suction and a 1.5-inch preconnect. Two EMS cabinets are installed in the cab, while three triple-bottle air compartments are placed in the wheel wells.
A Zico hydraulic ladder rack provides storage for suction hoses, and a Stokes basket rack is positioned in the rear. A Pike Pole storage compartment is located on the left upper area with rear access for convenience.
The truck also includes a Kussmaul 1200 battery conditioner/air compressor with auto-eject, a Federal Q2B mechanical siren, and a Whelen electronic siren with a 100-watt speaker. Two FRC Evolution 12-volt brow lights and two Whelen Pioneer 12-volt scene lights enhance visibility during emergencies.
A Smart Power 5500-watt hydraulically driven generator supports power needs, and an electric cord reel with 100 feet of 10/3 cord is mounted on the right side. Two FRC Focus 120-volt telescopic lights and four recessed scene lights provide excellent lighting for the scene.
The truck is equipped with a Whelen LED warning light package and Chevron pattern striping on the rear. With an overall height of 9’8â€, length of 32’8â€, and a 202†wheelbase, this apparatus is built for both performance and durability.
The specifications include a 21,500-pound front axle weight rating (FAWR), 27,000-pound rear axle weight rating (RAWR), and a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 48,500 pounds.
